PMC Studio London Hosts Beyond the Mix’s First Pro Audio Seminar

UK – Collaboration and networking initiative Beyond The Mix is hosting a one-day seminar on October 7, 2022 to introduce mixing techniques to aspiring producers and engineers.

The seminar will take place at PMC Studio London, PMC’s fully equipped Dolby Atmos demo center. Speakers will include GRAMMY and BRIT Award-winning producer and engineer Heff Moraes, who is PMC’s brand ambassador and an expert in mixing music in the Dolby Atmos format. Also on the panel are Los Angeles-based mixing engineer Ross Newbauer, who works closely with famed mixer Joe Zook, and British recording and mixing engineer Will Reeves, who began his career assisting Heff at Tape London and has since worked with artists including Will.i.am, Migos, Bree Runway and Wes Nelson, reaching gold and platinum sales records.

The brainchild of Will Reeves (Founder) and Stephan Grainger (Creative Director), Beyond The Mix was launched during the first COVID lockdown as a way for those interested in all things audio to connect and share informations. This educational and interactive platform is open to aspiring music producers and sound engineers who want to be part of a like-minded community.

“This is Beyond The Mix’s first physical event and we’re very excited to be holding it at PMC’s incredible demo facility,” said Will Reeves. “When I left university, I struggled to find the right people to help me. We’ve created a platform where anyone can ask a question and get direct answers from industry professionals.

“Our goal at this event is to cover a range of topics so that newcomers to the industry can learn how to produce and mix in stereo, 5.1 and Dolby Atmos from those who are actively involved in the process. such as preparing and organizing files will be on the agenda, but we’ll also discuss ways to get into business and studio etiquette.

Heff Moraes adds: “Mixing is not a dark art, but it does require good organization, especially now that so many projects are in the pipeline for release in immersive audio formats. As a leader in this field, PMC has a lot of knowledge, both in mixing techniques and in choosing the right monitoring for Dolby Atmos studios. Personally, I think it’s very important that we teach aspiring engineers good techniques right from the start so that they can avoid making the mistakes that others have made.

PMC Studio London has room for 15 attendees and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets cost £30 per person and can be obtained at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/beyond-the-mix-recording-mixing-seminar-tickets-418021632957

The event will also be captured on video and shared on Beyond The Mix’s Instagram page.

As an added incentive, entrants have the chance to win a pair of PMC result6 near-field monitors and a set of Audeze LCD-X headphones. These exceptional products will be given away in a raffle at the end of the event.
